She smiles, she laughs, she must be insane
This sort of summarizes life in the Heinz home. Laughter has returned as has insanity. I have often said one of the greatest blessings I have been given is that I am not genetically programmed to be depressed - insanity is much more in my genetic background. This is a great gift.
We are all recovering well. Alice is amazing. She really turned a corner Saturday and is much more "herself" again - up and around, laughing and singing. We washed through her hair really well, getting out all the betadine, blood, matted shaved hair, etc. This made her feel so much better. Her incision is healing well, as is she. Alice still needs lots of rest and has moments when she says if she thinks about it too much her head feels like it might explode (which would perhaps blow up her tumors???), but she is overall in good spirits.
Sometimes it all feels so surreal - like some odd dream. Was it really only a week ago we were sitting at Doernbecher ... waiting. Time is very muddled to me ... dragging yet speeding. Last week might have been the longest week in my life... has it only been a week???
So on we go. Ready for the next challenge ahead. On we go, together, surrounded by love.
